Confirmation Preparation 2023-24
In the Sacrament of Confirmation the Holy Spirit is given to us for strengthening. It makes us better able to bear witness to the love of God and the new life in Christ to which he calls all men and women.
Any young people in Godalming or Haslemere parishes in school year 10 or above who would like to prepare to receive this Sacrament in 2024 are asked to get their parents to confirm their consent here before taking part in Pizza and Prayer or the first Confirmation session in January 2024. There is a Code of Conduct for young people which can be found here.
The Mass of Confirmation with Bishop Richard is likely to be at Arundel Cathedral on the afternoon of Sunday 14th July 2024 (subject to final confirmation).
The preparation sessions will take place at St Edmund's, Croft Road on Sunday evenings, from 6.30pm-8.00pm. Young people are welcome to arrive for social time from 6.00pm.
The sessions this year will draw on the Sycamore series of films.
14th January 2024 - The Search for Happiness
4th February 2024 - Who is Jesus
25th February 2024 - The Power of Prayer
17 March 2024 - The Sacraments of Baptism and Confirmation
21 April 2024 - Forgiveness, Healing and Mission
12 May 2024 - The Eucharist
Preparation will include a day pilgrimage and and an evening session with Bishop Richard.
As part of the preparation, young people are invited to join the informal "Pizza and Prayer" sessions on a Sunday evening in the autumn and after Easter. Please see the parish calendar for details of these.
