Confirmation Preparation 2026-27

In the Sacrament of Confirmation the Holy Spirit is given to us for strengthening. It makes us better able to bear witness to the love of God and the new life in Christ to which he calls all men and women.

Participants should be in School Year 10 or above. It is expected that those preparing for confirmation will be at Mass regularly. This will work best if they are able to come with their parents, who are important examples in their lives.

This year we are planning to work closely with the other Catholic parishes south of Guildford. Confirmation preparation will take place at St Thomas More, Bramley* on Sunday afternoons, usually 3pm - 5pm (unless otherwise specified). The following are the likely dates

  • 11 October 2026 3-5pm (including meeting for parents and candidates at 4.45pm.)

  • 15 November 2026 9.30am - 4.30pm - Awayday at Ladywell (exact times tbc)

  • 13 December 2026 3-5pm

  • 24 January 2027 3-5pm

  • 21 February 3-5pm

  • 21 March (Away-day at Ladywell for Palm Sunday)

  • 11 April 2027 3-5pm

  • 9 May 2027 3-5pm

  • 13 June 2027 3-5pm (tbc)

This year preparation will include an awayday led by the Youth Ministry team at the Franciscan Centre, Ladywell - dates to be confirmed.

The programme will also include a “penance and pizza” or similar session (date and location to be advised).
